If we know activity co efficient of the one element, we can find the activity co efficient of the other element by using Gibbs-Duhem equation.

This equation simply gives us an important idea that in a mixture, an extensive property can’t change independently without affecting the other. This property can be activity, activity coefficient, Gibbs free energy etc. even the rule applies for intensive property like chemical potential.
So for the properties or quantities in a mixture where we can’t measure for both components (say for binary mixtures) experimentally; we measure one and find other using Gibbs Duhem equation.
See lessThe Gibb-Duhem equations show that the intensive parameters are not dependent if pressure (P) and temperature (T) are variable only S-1 components of S are independent, then Gibbs phase rule is applied.
