Due to highly porous nature of DRI its combustion rate is faster and chance of getting fire is more prominent by oxidation (from air) and it may be too hazardous due to burning of whole stock so in order to avoid such hazardous accident it is compressed to reduce the porosity of DRI(Direct Reduced Iron) and that’s compressed product is HBI(Hot Briquette Iron).
