Gas generation={N2% in Blast÷N2% in top gas}×Cold blast volume
Gas generation is based on reactions that occur in the blast furnace. To calculate the total blast volume it is necessary to find out the reactants volume and purity. By the reactions we can calculate the total blast volume. For the examples please follow "Thermodynamics by AB lele"

The blast furnace gas mainly contains CO, CO2 and nitrogen. To find out the volume we need to know the CO/CO2 ratio. From that we can calculate the kg moles of CO, CO2 and nitrogen respectively. The amount of kg mole multiplied by 22.4 will give us the total volume of the BF gas.
