      Titanium aluminide compounds were synthesizedby the thermal explosion mode of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis(SHS) and combustion synthesis. Studies on diffusion bonding process for Ti-Al is also taking place, as they form inter metallics.

Kindly refer Physical Chemistry of Metals by Darken & Gurry, the miscibility gap diagram, the anecdotes of alpha 1 & alpha2.  These anecdotes can be arrested by rapid solidification(say cooling  rate ~1000°C/sec) before spinal decomposition.
