      Direct Ph.D./MS admissions at few IITs have the following procedure

      1. Shortlisting based on Exam
      2. Interview for the shortlisted candidates

      Five years ago, I know of a girl who has not given the GATE exam but directly joined through this process. I am informed that few IITs conduct exams in addition to the GATE Score for further screening of candidates for Research profiles like MS/Ph.D. We have collected a few questions from such exams. It is attached below

      MS- Direct PhD Question Paper

      However, these are purely from the memory of the student, a few sample papers earlier given by IIT Madras. The same level of questions you can expect from other IITs also in case they conduct an exam this year also.
