Interface talks about solid-liquid-gas phase boundary form a clear separation between two phases. In molten steel slag-metal interface refine it at high temperature through gas medium. Grain boundary occurs after solidification of molten metal through dendritic formation.

Certainly in monolayers or lipid bilayers,  called interface to the plane separating two phases. Interfaces are analogous to grain boundaries in monolithic materials whereas grain boundary is the boundary between two grains or crystallite in a polycrystalline material.
