      The coke burns in the raceway infront of tuyeres ,thus releasing coke ash containing sio2. Sio2+3c=sic+2co Sic+co=sio+2c Sio vapour is unstable when it rises upwards in the bosh.       Sio vapour is unstable when it rises upwards in the bosh. Therefore in this region si gets transferred into liquid Fe.

      Sio+ c=si+co

      Or, by decomposition as

      2sio=sio2+2si

      Feo(in slag) +sio=Fe+sio2

      In whichever way it is formed, sio2 joins the slag phase.
