      The coke burns in the raceway infront of tuyeres ,thus releasing coke ash containing sio2. Sio2+3c=sic+2co Sic+co=sio+2c Sio vapour is unstable when it rises upwards in the bosh.       Sio+ c=si+co

      Or, by decomposition as

      2sio=sio2+2si

      Feo(in slag) +sio=Fe+sio2

      In whichever way it is formed, sio2 joins the slag phase.
