      So think you hit a metal and the atoms or more accurately the electron cloud can easily move (vibrational motion to and fro) with dissipating minimum energy. This cause the kinetic energy to easily propagate as waveform which have certain frequency producing sound.

      Thus most metals are sonorous sl, silver believed to be most.
